چکیده

Abstract Glued laminated timber (glulam) is a great building material with strong mechanical properties that comprises layers of wood (lamina) glued together long-lasting structural adhesives. As the supply large dimensional lumber for construction projects has been in shortage, glulam ideal to replace because it can be made various sizes and shapes, including unique arches using relatively small lumber. This research aims investigate effects different lamina assembly patterns adhesive spread rates on physical rubberwood glulam. For this purpose, lab scale 3-ply was from homogenous grades low-MOE, average-MOE, high-MOE. In addition, also produced mixed low-high-low-MOE high-low-high-MOE. The tested evaluate based Japanese Industrial Standards (JAS 234-2003). results show significantly affect Accordingly, high-MOE at its compression tension surfaces best compared other patterns. although difference insignificant, showed rate positively affected Rubberwood potential used as raw production.

Feasibility of glued laminated timber beams 1 with tropical hardwoods

11 A feasibility study of glulam was carried out in French Guiana using local wood species. The aim 12 was to determine gluing parameters affording satisfactory behaviour to manufactured glulam in 13 a tropical climate. 14 Three abundant wood species, with special properties, were selected for the study and 15 Resorcinol-Phenol-Formaldehyde resin was used for bonding. Three industrial parameter...

Computer-aided Design and Construction of Glued Laminated Timber Structure

The paper presents the computer-aided design and construction of a large glued laminated timber structure in Aosta, Italy. The structure was completely computer modelled with in-house developed software, which considers both torsion and curvature constraints of timber. Further proprietary software was used to develop, on a plane, the shape of each timber layer without torsion and curvature . Th...

Air-coupled ultrasound inspection of glued laminated timber

A novel air-coupled ultrasound (ACU) 120 kHz normal transmission system enabled successful imaging of bonding and saw cut defects in multilayered glulam beams up to 280 mm in height with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 40 dB. The main wave propagation paths were modeled; quasi-longitudinal and quasi-transverse modes were coupled in each lamella and the sound field was found to be shifted from ...

Structural Health Monitoring of Glued Laminated Timber with a Novel Air-coupled Ultrasound Method

Recent years have witnessed an increased use of glued timber products in construction, due to their highlights in versatility and sustainability. It is therefore a demanding necessity to develop non-destructive integrity assessment methods for structural health monitoring of timber constructions, both during production and utilization. Particularly, the integrity and load bearing capacity of th...

Portable T-Section Glulam Timber Bridge Modules: Modeling and Performance

This report describes the design, modeling, and testing of two portable timber bridges, each consisting of two non-interconnected longitudinal glued-laminated timber (glulam) deck panel modules 1.8 m (6 ft) wide. One bridge is 12.2 m (40 ft) long while the other bridge is 10.7 m (35 ft) long. The modules are fabricated in a double-tee cross section. Before fabrication of the modules, researcher...
